Bass Drum of Death

Bass Drum of Death is Back & They’re Never Gonna Drink About You

By Jillian Jaramillo

Mississippi’s Bass Drum of Death are back with their loudest and most energetic track yet! “Never Gonna Drink About You” is the second single from the band’s upcoming album SIX, set to drop on September 12th. After the release of their bluesy garage rock track, “Do Nothing,” frontman John Barrett describes “Never Gonna Drink About You” as: “Fizzy and busy.”

According to press material, Barrett says about “Never Gonna Drink About You,” that he “really wanted to get as fast and noisy as possible with this one. The tone on the guitar solos might be my favorite tone on the entire record.”

Before being joined by brother Jim Barrett on guitar and Ian Kirkpatrick on drums, John Barrett recorded “Never Gonna Drink About You” entirely on GarageBand. Produced by Jeremy Ferguson (Cage the Elephant, White Reaper), SIX was fine-tuned by the trio during ten blistering winter days at Battle Tapes, John Barrett’s studio located in East Nashville.

The time working in the studio was well worth it, as SIX harkens back to the band’s original raw and gritty sound, influenced by the likes of Nirvana and The Stooges. Though Bass Drum of Death was on a brief hiatus, their return to their visceral roots proves that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Bass Drum of Death will be in North America for a three-month tour in September. Purchase tickets here.
