On the heels of her hit single “Flown Away,” Brazilian-born pop artist Laura Pieri returns with a fresh new take on her track “Daughter of Demeter” off her EP Frankie (2024). The original track is a raw cry of fury and heartbreak. And the new and reimagined remix, “Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)” is subtle yet just as electrifying.
Pieri divides her time between New York and Los Angeles, balancing her life as an MBA student by day and a pop artist by night. Her sound seamlessly blends the up-tempo beats of pop music with the rhythm of her Brazilian roots, making it the perfect club track.
According to press material, Pieri says, “This [‘Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)’] remix is what happens when that fire simmers into something slower, sharper, and slyer,” and that the “fury isn’t gone. There’s a defiance in turning pain into pleasure, and that’s what this version does: it lounges in heartbreak with style. It’s rage on vacation.” Pieri’s fresh take on “Daughter of Demeter” showcases her exceptional ability to take a song packed with emotion and reshape it into something equally powerful and passionate.
Like the myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone that personifies the cycle of life, death and rebirth, Pieri was inspired by her personal journey of self-discovery, marking the beginning of a bold and fierce new chapter. “Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCE FLOOR)” will be available on Pieri’s upcoming expanded EP, Frankie (ON THE DANCE FLOOR) later this summer.
