"Can't We Pretend We Just Met at a Bar?"

Ana Luna Wants to Know: “Can We Pretend We Just Met at a Bar?”

Ana Luna drops new single, “Can We Pretend We Just Met at a Bar?,” now on all streaming platforms. The Ukrainian-born, Los Angeles-based singer kept her writing secret for years as she pursued an acting career before blossoming into the alt-rock, dream pop artist she is today.

Her introspective new single gives fans a glimpse into the vulnerability of her forthcoming full-length album. “Can We Pretend We Just Met at a Bar?” is an aching ballad that explores themes of self-denial and the fantasy of what an idyllic romance might be–with the wrong one–that is not only unattainable, but a dream.

“’Can We Pretend We Just Met at a Bar?’ is a conversation with myself. It’s about blurring the past and present in order to get to the truth and begin letting go,” says Ana. “In the song, I imagined how I wished things could be, faced how they actually were, and asked myself why I hadn’t walked away sooner. Deep down, I knew the relationship was over, but I stayed in denial.”

Luna’s latest track mulls over the reality of a dead relationship, and by the end, accepts that while the truth is hard to face, it’s what sets you free.
